Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The collection includes mostly stock images of Fairbanks, Nome, Anchorage, and Juneau; also Eskimos, sled dogs, and a few images of unidentified people. Many of the photographs were collected from commercial photographers, including Winter and Pond Co., Walter Hylen (Fairbanks), Sawyer, B.B. Dobbs, Charles Cann, Julius Fritschen (Anchorage). Others may have been photographed by Mina Lang.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: Alaska Railroad Construction. The majority of the prints are 8 x 14 cm. (3¼ x 5½ in.); includes one panorama. This collection documents the preliminary survey and early construction of the Alaska Railroad, ca. 1915-1917. Scope and Contents From the Collection: The collection contains 92 black and white, mostly 8x10, images of military installations, construction, personnel and activity on Kiska Island during World War II. The collection includes photos of landing craft, wrecked Japanese aircraft, bombed-out areas, a submarine beaching railway, and a small Japanese shrine. Scope and Contents From the Collection: The collection contains 92 black and white, mostly 8x10, images of military installations, construction, personnel and activity on Kiska Island during World War II. Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This collection includes views around the city of Juneau, unidentified individuals, and group portraits. One of the unidentified individuals may be Arthur Walther. Some of the photographs were taken during a union strike in the late 1930s. The few papers include notes, envelopes, identification cards, and receipts. Some of the papers are related to the labor unions and a number of the items belonged to Victor Grimm, a member of the local union.

Subjects include the Juneau, Douglas, Ketchikan, and Hoonah areas, Mendenhall glacier, Governor's mansion, Fourth of July speeches, mines, ships, the Nowicka brothers, and other snapshots.
